Day 1 – Bethleham, PA
Coach to the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA. Enjoy an evening on your own.
Day 2 – Long Island, NY
Depart for Long Island, New York, home to Nassau and Suffolk counties and The Hamptons, a popular seaside resort famous for luxurious homes with a medium price of $8.5 million! Lunch at Old Westbury Gardens, one of the grandest of the Gold Coast Mansions. Afterward tour the mansion and its famous gardens. Browse the boutiques in Stony Brook Village where the eagle on the post office flaps its wings every hour, on the hour. Dine at the prestigious Three Village Inn overlooking Stony Brook Harbor before returning to your hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 3 – Long Island, NY
Explore local history with your guide. Tour the Montauk Lighthouse, with stunning views of the eastern most point of Long Island. Lunch in Southampton before arriving at spectacular Cooper Beach. Learn about the 375 years of history of Long Island in a single home in Southampton’s Roger Mansion. Enjoy diner in Long Island.
Day 4 – Newport, RI
Follow Washington’s Spy Trail as you travel through Old Field, Setauket, and Stony Brook, known as the “Three Villages”. First stop, the Brewster House whose owner funded a portion of revenue for the Continental Congress. Next stop, The Thompson House, whose owner supplied guns and ammunition to the struggling army. Then stop at Port Jefferson, paid for by Thomas Jefferson, and home to America’s earliest ship builders. Lunch in the village before taking the ferry to Newport, RI. Meet your guide for a narrated tour of the opulent mansions on the Ten-Mile Ocean Drive. Tour Rosecliff Mansion where portions of The Great Gatsby and True Lies were filmed. Dinner will be served on the Pier overlooking the gorgeous Newport Harbor. (B, D)
Day 5 – Newport, RI
Tour The Breakers, the grandest of Newport’s summer “cottages” and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family’s social and financial preeminence at turn of the century America. Afterward explore and lunch downtown. Then visit the delightful Green Animals Topiary Garden. This seven acre estate boasts eighty sculptured trees, teddy bears, a horse and rider, giraffe and camel; with over 35 formal flower beds and rose arbors! Don’t worry, you will receive a detailed map! Take a tour of Newport Vineyards learn about the wine making process and vineyard history; and, of course, wine tasting! End your day with dinner at La Forge situated on the grounds of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. (B, D)
Day 6 – Lancaster, PA
Depart “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” and travel to the rural charm of Lancaster, Pa. for your final night’s stay. Tonight, savor the dishes cooked from scratch at Millers Smorgasbord…a real feast! (B, D)
Day 7 – Lancaster, PA
Before departing, visit an Amish farm to see their wood shop, barn, home and home-made ice cream production! Lunch and shopping Kitchen Kettle Village before departing for home. (B)
