Springfield Area Institute for Lifelong Learning

The Springfield Area Institute for Lifelong Learning (SAILL) is a partnership of United Senior Services with Clark State Community College, the Springfield Symphony, the Clark County Historical Society and many others. The mission of SAILL is to offer the community a catalogue of intellectually stimulating education for adults at least 55 years of age that inspires congenial discovery and discussion in an informal atmosphere. SAILL is affiliated with the Road Scholar network.

Wanted–Educators, Experts, Enthusiasts! Come and share your passions as an instructor with SAILL. The arts, humanities, sciences, health, sports, hobbies–whatever your area, if you want to share your skills and knowledge with older adults, then we want you! We offer informal classes, one-time presentations, panel discussions, hands-on projects–whatever format suits your topic. We are interested in attracting talented instructors and trainers to offer a variety of topics in our spring and fall catalogs. Dates, times, supplies, and fees are negotiable.

For more information about enrolling in SAILL classes or to propose a topic, please contact Marjorie Vereen at mvereen@unitedseniorservices.org.

Volunteer with USS

“Giving back is important to me. Through USS, I have a wide range of volunteer opportunities that use my skills and teach me new ones.”

United Senior Services has a wide variety of challenging volunteer opportunities for all ages. Some volunteers assist in administrative duties, while others provide hands-on services. Opportunities are matched to a volunteer’s skills and interests.

In addition, United Senior Services offers opportunities for service and enrichment through the RSVP – Retired and Senior Volunteer Program – for seniors aged 55 and better. RSVP is a part of the National Senior Service Corps. RSVP helps seniors find volunteer opportunities with non-profits and government agencies in Clark County.

United Senior Services sponsors RSVP with federal funds through the Corporation for National and Community Service, help from the Ohio Department on Aging, and local matching funds including The Community Health Foundation and The Springfield Foundation.

If you would like more information about volunteering at United Senior Services centers or in the community, call Barbara Rossler at (937) 324-5705.
